Campaign Reaches $1 Million Mark!
In the span of less
than one month, Our Lady of Fatima’s Remembering
our roots…building our
future Capital Campaign reached the $1 million mark. The
parish celebrated that milestone Wednesday, August 31.
“This
is wonderful news for our entire parish family,” Monsignor
Walker Nickless said. “To
reach $1 million in less than four weeks shows the true dedication
and sacrifice our parishioners are willing to make. It’s a time
to celebrate and I hope all parishioners take time to thank and
praise God. We still have a lot of work to do to reach our
ultimate goal of $2 million, but we need to take time to enjoy
this highlight in our campaign.”
While
pledges continue to come into the campaign office on a daily
basis, the phase one renovations are also moving along briskly.
General Contractor Pat Cox of Zimmer-Cox Commercial Builders is
pleased with the progress.
“We
are right on schedule. It’s going great,” Cox said. “We are
on time for the October 15 completion date. Everything is going
very smoothly.”
Cox
credited Deacon John Nusse for much of the project’s success.
“Deacon John has a lot of construction experience,” Cox said.
“He knows what I am encountering and between the two of us we
can head off any problems and work together on it. He’s been
great to work with.”
Depending
upon the workload, Cox assigns as few as two and as many as 12
workers on the project. The creation of sanctuary steps required a
number of workers to make certain the cement was laid correctly.
“We
poured 15 yards today [September 2]” Cox said. “This includes
the stairs, the plumbing trenches back in the Adoration Chapel
along with all the miscellaneous areas. Everything but the [new]
office area was poured, but we just removed the concrete there
yesterday and we will start on that next week.”
While
Cox and his crew will continue to address the physical nature of
the capital campaign, volunteers will remain busy too by spreading
word of the success of the Remembering our roots…building our future Capital Campaign.
