We are blessed at Our Lady of Fatima to have a wonderful group of Altar Servers trained to reverently assist the clergy at Mass. Altar serving is a beautiful way for young people to become more connected with the Mass and form a close relationship with Jesus through the Eucharist.
Boys and girls, fourth grade and above, are invited to volunteer for this important ministry. Altar servers care for the sacred objects and show, through their presence on the altar, a prayerful sense of the holy act in which they are participating. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHCs) are entrusted with assisting the clergy to distribute the Body and Blood of Christ to the faithful at Mass and to our homebound parishioners. All the elements of the Mass are directed toward the moment of communion in which we are fed with the body and blood of Christ, and consequently become one in the Lord.
The primary qualifications for ministers of communion are that they be mature, devoted to the Blessed Sacrament, be in full union with the Church, and receive approval of our Parish Pastor. This position is mandated by the Archbishop, and new mandates are on a three year cycle. For information about being an EMHC, checkout the Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion Guidelines by USCCB.

The Lector is responsible for proclaiming the Word of God to the faithful at Mass. Lectors at Our Lady of Fatima engage in Bible study and spiritual reading so that they might have a confident understanding of what they are proclaiming to the people of God. As Lectors we learn how to better engage the attention of those in the assembly so that everyone may understand the scriptures during the Liturgy of the Word.
If you would like to become a Lector, please contact us. We would be happy to discuss this wonderful opportunity to help proclaim the Liturgy of the Word during Mass. For information about being a Lector, checkout the Lector Guidelines by USCCB.

Music has a unique and indispensable role to play in the celebration of the Liturgy. While music is itself a mode of prayer, it can also be understood as a servant of common prayer. To achieve this, Our Lady of Fatima Parish pays very close attention to both the integrity of the music and to its appropriateness in the liturgical celebration. The sacredness of the Liturgy demands art forms which elevate the human heart and spirit. If you feel called to pray through song, you are invited to join us.

Ushers are the hosts at the church for the celebration of the Liturgy. In former times, the collection and order-keeping function took precedence over other dimensions of this ministry. While that is still certainly among their duties, new to our understanding of the role of the usher is that of an “official host” whose presence, conversation, and actions demonstrate a genuine desire that the community feel welcome when they come to Mass.
If you feel called to help as an Usher at weekend and special Masses, please contact us. We would be delighted to welcome you to the team!
